Each row is a model line from a manufacturer datasheet: maximum PV open-circuit voltage, the charge current that sheet prints, and the battery voltage. Cells quote the sheet. Nothing here is estimated.
Use the table after the charge controller tab prints a current. The tab does array watts ÷ battery volts ÷ 0.85, then picks the next size in 10, 20, 30, 40, 60, 80, and 100 A. That list is this site's rounding. It is not a model name in the table.
sizeSystem prints as 700 W. sizeController then does 700 ÷ 12 ÷ 0.85 = 68.6 A and lists 80 A. On this table the SmartSolar MPPT 100/50 row is 50 A, which is below 68.6 A. The SmartSolar MPPT 150/70 row is 70 A. The 150/70 voltage cell is 150 V absolute maximum in the coldest conditions and 145 V start-up and operating maximum. Current and open-circuit voltage are separate limits. The same walk-through is on how to size a solar charge controller. The figures were copied from the linked datasheets on October 6, 2026. Every row has a source link. Download CSV (same rows).

ProStar PWM rows use the line labeled Max. PV Open Circuit Voltage (12V bat: 30Voc / 24V bat: 60Voc). The same datasheet also lists Maximum Solar Input Voltage as 12V/24V bat: 60Voc. SunSaver rows use the ratings table's "Max. solar voltage" and "Max. solar current". The SunSaver sheet calls the charging method 4 stage series PWM. Victron rows that print two PV-voltage limits include both. TS-MPPT-60 and TS-MPPT-60M share one 60 amp cell on the TriStar sheet.
What this table leaves out
Nominal PV power, maximum PV short-circuit current, and charge voltages are on several of these sheets and are not columns here. Every row above has a published figure for open-circuit voltage, charge current, and battery voltage.
The compilation on this page is published under CC BY 4.0. The datasheets linked in the table stay the manufacturers' documents.
